Fraser’s Retreat
March 28, 2018
(For Kim Eng)
Bacon, eggs on toast
Stir my morning senses
Steaming coffee wafting
Through the chilly misty morning
To warm the soul
I sit alone contented
Only a cobra and spiders to remind me
There’s someone there
Until darkness descends
An owl perched
Like a sentinel keeping watch
The temperature plummets
Light the fireplace
To set the flames dancing
In bewilderment
Casting light and shadows
In quietness surround
I reflect on absences
And infinity
Long into the night
Waiting for the raptors
To rise with the sun
