Coming together
January 27, 2017
To all the girls and boys I left
In 1968
I got to know few well
Caught up in our little world
Of shining in exams
And sports
Preparing awkwardly for adulthood
All too quickly we got our HSC
Off to uni we went
Some to seek fortunes
Others partners
Some quick off the mark
All too quickly 40 years passed
Children came
Some grandchildren too
Cruising
Until Jimmy jolted us
To reconnect
Thats where we are today
Eager to restart a conversation
That we lost 48 years ago
A remarkable journey
That has taken a year
To put together piece by piece
Others yet to join
And hope you do
The years are rolling by
But we are one virtual
For good or bad
To annoy, spout our life’s
Prejudices and hopes
Expose our differences
Disagreements
Share our humanity
For you to post
In your moment of doubt
Fear
When you feel abandoned
A classmate will reply
To reassure
You are not by yourself
Moulded by the experience
Of sharing a room for two short years
Without noticing
Thats what bound us
Thats what will take us
Until the end of the road
