Donald Lee
(Haiku chain)

I recall this day
when they came with guns and knives
I thought we were one

And then the blood flowed
Malays against the Chinese
It tore us apart

Just what did it prove?
Nothing. Yet the years could not
wipe away my tears

Goh Chak Wong
(A poem)

It was the beginning
of what continues
Today
The long slow squeeze.

I was in the midst of it all.
The sky was red accompanied by screams of pain and terror
I shall not forget.
Today the sky is still red
From the never ending burn!
