Roses do not Tilt
November 5, 2016
I can’t defend my roommate
For his indiscretion
After imbibing much whisky
For using that unforgiving phrase
Before the roses wilt
Mocking line dancing
By posting belly gyrations
I doubt very much
He will be able to do so tonite
For sobriety is not his suit
I leave him to your mercy
As for my pendulum
It no longer keeps time
It swings a second slow
But keeps its rhythm
What more do you want
For roses do not wilt
Pendulums do not stop
As long as we breathe life
And life breathes love
