Walking from Eastin Hotel to Kon Rak Pak
Familiar faces come to mind
And maybe a few to anticipate
Having not seen since my youthful days.
Walking along the beach in Fukuoka
Voices, laughter and snatches of conversation
Break through the quiet surroundings
Keeping me company in solitude.
As I walk, pebbles beneath my feet
The bright images of my grandchildren’s mochi delight
Tomorrow more promises to keep
Plum blossoms are brief
Thoughts of past romance breeze gently
as I continue to walk along the beach.
And as the pebbly beach gives way to sand
My thoughts of family and friends
Soar like the myriads of plum blossom
And lovers past flit by one by one.
As I strive to reach for them
Flowers and lovers merge as one
And I am in Fukuoka bliss!
