An elephant’s lament
August 23, 2016
The jungle is our home
To play, eat and roam
Who’s to tell us
Where we should stay
Who’s to tell us
Where we can play
Who’s to tell us
Where we should cross
Elephant’s crossing?
What’s that?
Where’s the habitat
We used to know
Our playground
Our home?
They say we are destructive
We trample trees along the way
Damage the jungles
With our foraging
But look what man has done.
They bring machines
They clear the trees
By the hundreds
By the thousands.
My friends are forced
To forage now in places
Which used to be our homes
But we are not welcome
We are now intruders
In what was once
Our homes.
