STAR SW*

October 30, 2016

It is hard to say goodbye
When you have known her
Seventeen years or more
This we had to do today
Release her from the Shelter
Thirteen years ago her mum departed
Too suddenly…too soon.
Her dad remained supportive
Singlehandedly he continued
Daily send her to our Shelter
T’was not easy going
Being tough, yet loving
Nevertheless we persevered.
Was it only yesterday
When she was just fifteen?
Sometimes we lose our patience
At times we forget
No longer are they children
Tho in our hearts they remain
Forever young
Our special ones
Entrusted to our love and care
To guide, to teach them
Live life independently
Who knows when they
Are on their own one day
Can they manage?
Will anyone care?
We shall miss her at the Shellter
She leaves now  to join her dad
Working in the world out there
We will always remember
Her struggle to get affirmation
Her need to get attention
As we struggle to mould them
To be useful members of society
Know that they are special
Individuals
Worthy to be counted with the world.
